Are innovators born or become?
His story seems to tell us that innovation is in some people's DNA. He invented a new way of shopping, and he did in 2000, when the Internet was just a novelty to many. His idea was simple: to take big brand clothes left unsold at the end of the season and give them a second chance. In his book "The Adventures of an Innovator", he recounts his journey, which after his experience at YOOX has now led him to devote himself to environmental protection.
His life was full of unexpected events, chances, sliding doors, successes, but also many mistakes – something that are almost impossible to avoid. Starting from a warehouse on the outskirts of Bologna, he transformed his project into the world's first fashion e-commerce; in between he revealed how he managed to acquire his most bitter competitor, Net-a-Porter, meet the fashion and tech giants, and even become adviser to King Charles III.
His 5 tips for those who want to innovate:
Follow your passions, not money (this will come later)
Change the rules by combining creativity with rationality
Address international markets
Think sustainable, the future is green
Never be afraid
