"I became an entrepreneur because I couldn't help but create from scratch something I loved and use my creativity to build something that could last forever and impact people's lives." What drives people to become entrepreneurs? How do you deal with the inevitable obstacles, doubts and failures along the way? How important is the team? Erika De Santi visited us on Campus to share some insights from her journey, which led her to co-found Europe's leading scaleup in the adventure travel industry, WeRoad. Always passionate about travel, she moved to London in her 20s and sought to make travel her business. Her goal was to create experiences that fostered connections between people and changed their lives: she succeeded by founding WeRoad, whose motto Connecting people, cultures, and stories is the answer to her professional and personal aspirations. "WeRoad has been my ikigai, my reason for living, earning and fulfilling. At the core of the strategy it has everything I value most: people, community." She met with students from H-FARM College and H-FARM International School during a Campus tour – held by two of our students – a special Lunch Connect and a talk in which she shared how WeRoad was born, what challenges it has faced, and the impact that emergencies such as Covid-19, the energy crisis, and global uncertainty have had and continue to have on the travel industry.
