Max Ciociola, the Founder of Musixmatch, Back to H-FARM | H-FARM

Max Ciociola, founder of Musixmatch, comes back to our campus to meet H-FARM College students and look back on the early days of startups and hackathons in Italy.

Max Ciociola, From HackItaly to MusixmatchEvery time you read song lyrics on Spotify, Apple Music or Instagram, you’re using Musixmatch. Founded in 2010 by Bologna-born Massimo “Max” Ciociola, it’s the world’s largest platform for lyrics and music metadata, with over 80 million users and millions of tracks in dozens of languages, used by the main global streaming players.
During his latest visit, Max looked back at the early 2010s in Italy, when the first hackathons and the startup boom were lighting up a new generation of digital entrepreneurs – a story that also runs through H-FARM. Together with Stefano Bernardi, he created HackItaly, the first Italian hackathon just for developers, and the 2012 and 2013 editions were held right here on our campus. He also met with H-FARM College students, our university offering bachelor’s degrees and master’s programs, and shared a few key messages, such as:AI is democratizing everything: today you have incredibly powerful tools to build products, test ideas and launch services very fast.Community, events, and networking matter: working side by side with other entrepreneurs, developers and creatives is often where co-founders, ideas and real opportunities start.
