I Have a Speech | H-FARM
The great minds of the past take to the streets to demonstrate, thanks to the AI platform designed by AKQA Italy for our education system.
In collaboration with AKQA, we launched the Artificial Intelligence platform "I Have a Speech" to put two thousand years of dialectic art at the disposal of GenZ and its ability to support the great social causes of our time.
Ours is the only boarding school in Italy certified IB and Apple Distinguished School and we have found in this project a perfect symbiosis between the world of technology, culture and society.
The project allows the younger generation to question the great speakers of the past on topical issues, and to share an extract of the generated speech to enliven online conversations. It thus becomes possible to be inspired by their wisdom to support everyday causes. With what witticisms would Machiavelli promote gender equality in the interest of a state's prosperity? What words would Sappho use to make society aware of the importance of taking care of one's mental well-being to avoid burnout? And with how many anecdotes can Confucius convince us of the need for action to avoid environmental drift?
The last decade has seen a progressive investment in STEM subjects (Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) with a consequent reduction in enrolment in humanities faculties: the new generations are increasingly well prepared in technological subjects, but less and less so in politics, social studies and oratory arts. Yet the battles that today's youth will have to face in order to secure a better future require not only technological efforts, but also profound humanistic skills.
"We enthusiastically embraced this project, involving our students in identifying the themes they hold most dear and the authors of the past they feel closest to them." Said Mauro Bordignon, Head of academics at H-FARM International School "Celebrating the encounter between the most modern technology and the classical tradition is fundamental to nurturing young minds in a dynamic, future-oriented context, but always rooted in the precious knowledge of the past. It is in the union of these two dimensions that conscious citizens are formed, capable of embracing innovation without losing sight of the wisdom and depth that only history can offer."
Umberto Basso, Managing Director of AKQA Italy adds: "In our daily work we often question ourselves on how to put innovation at the service of not only technological but also social progress. The answers to the questions of today and tomorrow can often be found in the past, and now there are technologies that allow us to question it."
The project aims to evolve over time, through the addition of new topics and new speakers, and could be the first step towards a series of events that will aim to bring young people closer to the classics, making them realise how their thought is extraordinarily topical and how it can be an unusual and fascinating guide in contemporary complexity.
