From May 9 to May 11, almost 2,000 professionals, entrepreneurs, educators, innovators, managers, CEOs, startuppers, teachers, influencers, artists, gamers, musicians, and students joined us for talks, workshops, and experiences to explore the latest developments in artificial intelligence in education, business, and many other industries.Main partner: AudiPartners: AccessiWay • EduTech EuropeTechnical partners: QLASH • La Romana • Gallo PubblicitàThe Origins of AIDiego Barbera, Technology & Sports JournalistFrom the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz to the 1927 film Metropolis, artificial intelligence—as something that transcends the human—has long been part of our cultural landscape. Its roots can even be traced back to ancient Greece with the myth of Talos, a giant bronze automaton created by Hephaestus. This fascination carried into the 1950s, a time when visionaries like Alan Turing were pondering whether machines could “think” like humans. From those early experiments, AI has experienced decades of ups and downs, alternating between periods of progress and stagnation, leading up to the recent boom thanks to exponential improvements in computing power and unprecedented data availability. Now, AI permeates everything and integrates deeply into our ways of working and living. The future promises even more astonishing scenarios, bringing us back to the central question of FutureShots: what does it mean to be human in the AI era?Overcoming Your Limits and Turning Them into a ResourceGiulia Lamarca, Content Creator & Change MakerIf you ask ChatGPT, “What do you do if you have an accident at 19 and end up in a wheelchair?” you’ll receive answers that are considered “correct” and even empathetic, but not as encouraging as you might expect. For Giulia, courage is about taking the leap and trying, and that’s not something you can teach AI. Nonetheless, AI is a tremendous ally in our lives and work, especially in creative fields like content creation.Giulia’s profound personal transformation began in 2011. After an accident left her paraplegic, she started to intensely reflect on her future, the value of life, and the meanings of limitation and freedom. The wheelchair, initially perceived as a prison, became a means to overcome obstacles. When she decided to travel to La Paz, Bolivia, despite the logistical and medical challenges involved, she demonstrated to herself and others her determination to live life to the fullest. Limits should not be denied or avoided; they should be accepted and even embraced, because they push us to give our best in all life’s circumstances.
The TV Series of the FutureDavide Bartolucci, CEO of SHADOAlready in 2016, the artificial intelligence system IBM Watson helped create the trailer for the movie “Morgan”. Today, narrative styles, production processes, and viewer interaction are being transformed through intriguing and innovative AI experiments in TV series, including:“Eternal You,” a documentary that explores how AI is changing perceptions of death“Deep Fake Neighbour Wars,” a satirical series that uses deepfake technology to stage feuds between celebrities“Nothing, Forever” pushes the concept of an endless series further, continuously generated by algorithms that recreate the ambiance of “Seinfeld” for a modern audience“Dimmi che è vero,” a concept by SHADO, blends AI with traditional soap opera storytelling to create an ironic and surreal production that prompts viewers to question changes in the media and our relationship with technologyThrough the AI Lens: Transforming PhotographyEleonora Costi, Photographer & Content CreatorWe are in the fourth dimension of creativity: AI takes it to a higher level. And it’s not just AI; many other technologies and social media themselves have radically transformed the way we capture and share images. These new technologies not only simplify the creative process, but also challenge our perception of reality, changing how the public views images and the role of the artists who create them. With her works that combine AI and urban exploration, Eleonora shows us a world where photography is a continuous exploration of human imagination and emotions. From Out-of-Town Student to EntrepreneurStefano Maiolica, Content Creator & Founder of Chupito AgencyStefano transformed his experience as an out-of-town student into a successful business and a go-to community for all students living away from home. Starting from Salerno and moving to Milan, he began sharing his adventures and misadventures on social media, quickly gaining millions of followers. One of his most ingenious ideas is a project that offers free bus trips for students traveling from Northern to Southern Italy, supported by various sponsors. Stefano’s journey combines creativity, new technologies, and both personal and professional growth, leading him to also found Chupito, an agency that creates viral content for the market.
Tech in the Heights. Hervé Barmasse Interviewed by Audi We Generation’s ProtagonistsHervé Barmasse, Alpinist & Communicator – Protagonists of We GenerationHervé has redefined mountaineering with his environmental awareness. He tackles climbing challenges in a “purer” way, using sustainable materials and traceless ropes, and by seeking less-traveled paths. His message is clear: unless we reconsider how we use technology, we will continue to exploit it to satisfy our egos rather than to protect the mountains we claim to love.Technology has made mountain peaks more accessible, but this has led to a significant increase in tourism, putting pressure on local infrastructure and the environment. What we need to change is not the technology itself, but how we use it to create a positive impact. One example is the Mountain Progress Lab, a project at Madonna di Campiglio by Audi and H-FARM that uses fixed detectors, AI systems, and Audi Q4 e-tron vehicles equipped with mobile sensors to collect data and protect the mountain ecosystem.Juventus FORWARD: Leading to InnovationCarolina Chiappero, Innovation Manager at Juventus Football ClubToday’s challenge in the world of soccer is to continually renew itself. But to innovate, a culture of innovation is first necessary, so that all stakeholders in the industry can understand and fully leverage the potential offered by technology and AI, including:more effective game analysispredictions of injuries or field conditionstraining and development programsproduction of more contentnew ways to interact with the audienceIn this context, Juventus has launched FORWARD, a laboratory, a co-creation space, and a bridge between the Club and the external innovation ecosystem aimed at positively contributing to change by exploring, implementing, and accelerating new ideas. Juventus has also collaborated with our students at H-FARM College to find inspiration and ideas for creating new senses of belonging to the Club, beyond just the playing field.Minds Meet Machines: Emotions Between Carbon and SiliconLuca Pezzullo, Psychologist & President of the Veneto Board of PsychologistsIn a sense, we humans are sophisticated technologies based on carbon. Now, as we interact with silicon-based “minds” of artificial intelligence capable of simulating human behaviors, our instinct is to attribute to them a mind, a personality. Rationally, we know that AI does not have a mind like ours, but emotionally, it’s a different story.Sometimes, the temptation to see ourselves reflected in something virtual is strong: we might think of creating a virtual partner who tells us exactly what we want to hear, or of retreating into a virtual world so perfect that we never want to leave. These scenarios carry significant risks of dissociation and addiction. So, how are we truly different from AI if it can seem indistinguishable from us, both cognitively and emotionally?Street Music Meets AIStefano Bottoni, Founder & Artistic Director at Ferrara Buskers Festival + live performance by two buskersThe Ferrara Buskers Festival is a journey through time and space. 37 years ago, among the streets and squares of Ferrara, Stefano Bottoni, a blacksmith-musician with an unrestrained passion for music, transformed the city into a stage, creating the world’s oldest festival dedicated to street art. It meant inventing something that didn’t exist before, bringing art back to the people.Generations of artists and spectators have come together in a fusion of art, culture, and entertainment that today expands its expressive possibilities through AI. Indeed, AI can be an inspiration that unites seemingly distant worlds.AI Is Changing the World: A Tech Journey with JakidaleJakidale, YouTuberIn the AI era, it’s not us who choose the content; the content “chooses” its audience. Think of how Netflix and YouTube highly personalize the user experience, delivering the right content to the right user based on their preferences.Generative AI tools have become indispensable for content creators and are an opportunity to enhance creativity and save time in many processes, from idea gathering and business management to content creation and translation. However, for influencers, simply rehashing old ideas is no longer enough. Jakidale’s advice to aspiring creators is to think outside the box and dare to throw in some human “stupidity” and boldness into this world that is as intelligent as it is artificial.FutureShots May 11: Innovation Merges with Creativity and EntertainmentIt was a day dedicated to the intersection of AI and creativity. Talks, performances, and experiences with influencers, creators, musicians, photographers, athletes, and managers demonstrated how artificial intelligence can be a powerful tool to amplify creativity and modes of expression.
