H-FARM CLUB in collaboration with Audi | Sustainable Progress | H-FARM

How does technology show us the way to sustainability?

Sustainability is being discussed anywhere, anytime, in any field. But how can we really harness the potential of innovation to improve our present and our future? With Audi, we organized a number of meetings on our Campus to foster dialogue on the topic of sustainable progress and reflect on how technology and innovation can provide effective answers to the big questions of today and tomorrow. This second meeting was dedicated to the theme of Innovation for Sustainability. What are CLUBs? They are communities of people passionate about the key issues of innovation: students, entrepreneurs and professionals who gather on campus to share business experiences, trends and reflections and, why not, inspire the launch of new projects. Who helped us explore this topic? Carlo Carraro, professor of environmental economics at Ca' Foscari University and vice president of IPCC, who shared with us an economic perspective on the ecological transition: "Renewables, efficiency and electrification dominate the energy transition. The tipping point is technological progress: its deployment will be accelerated by falling prices of key low- or zero-emission technologies." Donata Columbro, journalist and data humanizer, who told us about the importance of data analysis, interpretation and communication: "We all have the numbers of catastrophes in our minds, but not the numbers of salvation. Innovation starts from the bottom and starts from need: the data we need now has the concept of care at its core. Data only matters if someone cares for it. Care includes all the ways we evaluate, adjust, and give meaning to data." Niccolò Calandri, co-founder and CEO of 3Bee, who walked us through high-impact projects related to loT, Al and environmental big data: "In a healthy ecosystem there may be 500 species of animals, 1,000 of plants, 10,000 of pollinators, 100,000 of insects, and 1 million bacteria. With AI, we can process large amounts of data to find effective solutions to protect biodiversity. This is what we are doing in 3Bee." Valentino Vettori, founder of Arcadia Earth, offered us the thrills of a virtual reality experience that can raise awareness of sustainability issues. We also had the WeGeneration team, the project that together with Audi we have been running for several years to share a journey in the culture of innovation with university students.
